ELI5: Are black holes dangerous to Earth?

Black holes are like big, invisible vacuum cleaners in space. They pull things in with a super strong force, but don’t worry! They are really, really far away from us.

Imagine if you have a big vacuum cleaner at home. If you're far away from it, you won't get sucked in, right? The same is true for black holes and Earth. Here’s how we can think about it:

• Distance: The nearest black hole is very, very far from us—thousands of times farther than the stars we see at night. So, it can't reach us.
