ELI5: Why does God exists?
Imagine a really, really amazing sports game. Like, the best game EVER.
Think about it:
- The perfectly timed pass in basketball.
- The incredible diving catch in baseball.
- The unbelievable goal in soccer.
Now, some people think the whole world, and everything in it, is like that amazing sports game. Itβs so complex and works so well, with rules and order (like gravity or how plants grow) that it seems designed.
They believe God is like the person who created the super-amazing sports game. God isn't playing the game (necessarily), but God made the game, the rules, and everything that makes it possible.
It's like saying:
"Who made this awesome game?"
"God did!"
Some people don't think there's a God, and they think the world just happened without a designer. It's like saying the sports game appeared out of nowhere, with no one making the rules.
Thinking about God is like thinking about who created the sport we're watching. Did someone design it all, or did it just randomly come to be? Itβs a big question, and people have different ideas about the answer.
