ELI5: Can plants reproduce without seeds?

Imagine you have a favorite strawberry plant. You love its yummy berries! Usually, plants grow from seeds, like the tiny black dots on the strawberry skin. But sometimes, plants are clever and can make more of themselves without any seeds at all!

Think of it like this:

• You have a Lego castle. Instead of buying a whole new set (like planting a seed), you can take a piece from your castle, like a tower, and build a smaller, identical tower next to it.

How does it work?

• Runners: Strawberries send out long stems called "runners." Where these runners touch the ground, they grow new roots and become a whole new strawberry plant! It's like your Lego tower making a copy of itself.
• Cuttings: Imagine you break off a branch from a rose bush and stick it in some water or soil. Sometimes, that branch will grow roots and become a brand new rose bush! This is called a "cutting."
• Bulbs: Think of an onion. That's a bulb! If you plant an onion, it will grow into a new onion plant. But sometimes, an onion can split into multiple smaller onions without needing seeds.
