ELI5: What is the Holy Trinity in simple terms?
The Holy Trinity is like saying God is one thing but also three things at the same time: God the Father, God the Son (Jesus), and God the Holy Spirit.
Think of it like an egg.
- The whole egg is one thing: an egg.
- But it also has three parts:
They are all different, but they are all still part of the same egg. You can't have an egg without all three.
Another way to think about it is water.
- Water is water, right?
- But it can be three different things:
It's still all water, just in different forms.
The Holy Trinity is similar. God is one, but He shows Himself in three ways:
- God the Father is like the planner, the one who created everything. Imagine Him as the architect of a house.
- God the Son (Jesus) is like the builder, the one who came to Earth to show us how to live and save us. He's like the architect coming down to actually build the house.
- God the Holy Spirit is like the helper, the one who guides us and comforts us every day. He's like the electricity that powers the house and keeps it running.
