ELI5: What is Domain Authority (DA)

Domain Authority (DA) is like a popularity score for a website, showing how likely it is to be shown first when you search for something online.

Imagine your school has lots of students. Some students are well-known and respected because they're good at sports, smart in class, or involved in many activities. Other students are less known. Domain Authority is similar to this popularity, but for websites.

Think of Google as the principal of the school. When you ask Google a question (like searching for "best cookies recipe"), it wants to show you the websites (the students) that it thinks are the most reliable and helpful.

A website with a high Domain Authority is like a popular student:

• It's been around for a while and has a good reputation.
• Other websites (other students) link to it, like recommending it to others.
• It has lots of good content (like being good at sports or academics) that people like and share.

• It might be new or not have much content.
• Not many other websites link to it.
• Google might not know much about it yet.
