ELI5: What caused the fall of the Roman Empire?

Imagine you have a really, really big house, the Roman Empire. It was super powerful for a long time, but then it fell apart. Why? Think of it like this:

• Too Big: The house got too big! It was hard to manage everything – like paying for all the rooms and making sure everyone followed the rules.

• Money Problems: The house ran out of money. They spent too much on things like wars and fancy parties. They even started printing more money, which made everything more expensive (inflation!).

• Bad Guys: Lots of barbarians (think of them as not-so-friendly neighbors) kept trying to break into the house. The Roman army was busy fighting them all the time.

• Weak Leaders: The people in charge weren't very good at their jobs. They fought with each other instead of working together to fix the problems. Imagine your parents arguing all the time instead of taking care of the house.

• Division: The house got split in two! There was a Western part and an Eastern part. The Western part was weaker and eventually collapsed.
