ELI5: Marxism
Imagine you and your friends have a HUGE box of Lego bricks.
Marxism is like a way of thinking about how you and your friends decide who gets to play with the Lego, and what you build.
- In a simplified Marxist view:
bourgeoisie.
Other kids (the workers) don't own many Lego pieces. They mostly just have plain bricks. They're like the proletariat.
The owners get to decide what everyone builds, usually something they want. The workers just follow instructions.
- Marxism says this isn't fair! The owners benefit more, even though the workers are the ones actually building. The workers are being
exploited. They aren't getting a fair share of the fun.
- What do Marxists want?
communism – everyone owns the Lego together!
- In short: Marxism is about who owns the Lego, who does the building, and if it's a fair system. It's about sharing and making sure everyone benefits, not just the kids who already have lots of Lego.
