ELI5: how does Grok work
Grok learns by reading lots and lots of information and then figuring out how different ideas connect, like a super-smart detective.
Imagine you're learning about baking cookies. Grok, in this case, is like a kid who reads every cookbook, website, and blog post about cookies ever written.
- First, Grok reads all the recipes. It sees that most cookie recipes have flour, sugar, and butter.
- Next, it notices patterns. For example, it sees that recipes calling for more butter tend to result in chewier cookies.
- Then, it learns exceptions. It sees that some recipes use oil instead of butter, and these cookies might be crispy.
- Finally, when you ask Grok, "How do I make chewy cookies?", it can use all that information to give you a good answer, like "Use more butter!"
- Grok sees thousands of pictures and descriptions of dogs.
- It learns that Golden Retrievers are usually friendly and have golden fur.
- It learns that Chihuahuas are small and can be yappy.
- If you ask Grok, "What kind of dog is good with kids?", it can use its knowledge to suggest a Golden Retriever, explaining its reasoning based on the information it has seen.
